still here in the NICU - posting a tiny bit in the Feb DDC now and then via the hospital computer since we are gone 14 hrs per day. The poor dogs . . . at least we have someone come and let them out once during the day.

Kaiden is now up to 5lbs 10 oz as of last night he is such a little chunker!! he's doing really well, he just doesn't have the endurance yet for oral feedings only. So he still gets tube fed a few times per day. He's doing better at BF but I found out yesterday he does MUCH better with the football hold than the crossover hold - as long as he's not on his side, he does pretty well. His personal best for Bf is 12ml, and he is on 44ml per feeding. He still de-stats every now and then when he gets sleepy, but not so much during feedings anymore. He has to stop de-stating and be able to take all of his feedings orally before we can bring him home.

Man I can't wait to bring him home, if only to get a bit more sleep instead of this schedule to be here every day!!

Anne... glad to hear he is doing so well I can't wait to see going home pics of him! I hope it is really soon. Funny about the football hold. For the longest time Matthew would only eat that way on my right side.

That was both of my boys fave positions too!! and it was really easy when I used the boppy...I pretty much only had to support their heads...

I'm soooo happy to hear that Kaiden is doing so well! I'll be praying that he starts feeding all on his own soon and you will have him home before you know it!!

Awwww sounds like Kaiden is doing great gaining weight. I am sure he'll be feeding great soon, just keep at it.

Don't worry about the dogs, they'll forgive you Honestly, when I was in the hospital and DH was going to work and then with me all evening I was SO worried about them but they pulled through it and they are fine now. They can adapt very well. We just got an animal psychic reading with them last week and my little girl Amber mention how scared she was when Mommy went away and didn't come home for a long time. I am sure they understand what is going on and why you are gone. I bet they'll be SO happy to meet Kaiden. Have you brought anything home that smells like him? DH brought home Benjamin's blanket after he was born and the dogs went nuts when they smelled it. He said they were running around the house doing a happy dance, like they understood that it was their new brother. Funny what they can understand sometimes.
Thank you Jaidynsmum for the beautiful siggy

I've let them sniff at his (dirty) outfits and blankets, Carl sniffed and walked away, and Lola tried to eat the blankets. She does love to lick me all over where I've held Kaiden during the day. I tell them all the time how I hope to get back to a normal schedule soon and bring Kaiden home. they really do understand more than most people think.
