I went to the doc's office yest morning because he told me to come in to hear the HB (since he didn't want to give me a 12 week u/s). We heard nothing-he said the baby is too small. Of course I'm thinking its something worse... He said at 14 weeks there's a 50% chance he'd hear it with the doppler-then why did he bother having me come in yesterday? Next Wed I have to go back for another prenatal-he said we'll try again. I'm not as stressed as I thought I would be if we didn't hear it. I'm not bleeding, my belly is growing, we've passed the 12 week mark, I had a good u/s at 7.5 weeks, and he said its too early anyhow. Maybe I'm finally settling down a bit-everything says this should be fine, but of course that little panic is still lurking in the shadows. Just had to get this out.

Lucky mother to five!

Yeah it may seem stressful, when I went to the Drs. I was under the impression I would hear the h/b. I was 11 weeks and we didn't. She said only 50 to 60% of the time you can. But she tried like heck to hear it, and ordered an u/s for me. I never got one that early, She said she wasn't nervous but she might have been and just didn't want to tell me. When she gave me my examination she also said my uterus was still tilted and I may not be as far long as we think, another reason why we didn't hear the h/b. But I am right on squedule.
So don't worry too much your growing so that means the baby is.

I understand your panic. If I were you I would call you Doctor and tell him all of you concerns and see if he won't give you another u/s to put your mind at ease.

I have a tilted uterus too - and also an anterior placenta - both make the h/b hard to find with dopplar. I was lucky enough to get an u/s to see my bean. If you are still growing, I would try not to worry too much - I know I know, not easy to do!! It can also depend on what possition the baby is in.
