Had a bunch of appts. today.

biophysical profile went perfect, baby scored 8/8 and passed with flying colors.
NST also passed with flying colors.
BP was 104/68 so perfect, no protein in my urine.
All other labs good except platelets, which dropped from 100K on Monday to 91K today.

I met with Anesthesia to talk about the spinal vs. general, they are not willing to budge on a platelet transfusion in order for me to avoid general if it comes to a c-section, but, most of them are comfortable doing a spinal for counts as low as 80 and some 70 as long as I don't have active signs of bleeding (like easy bruising, oozing from blood draw sites, bleeding gums when I brush my teeth, none of which I have), and there is a possibility I can negotiate a platelet transfusion with the OB who consults with my midwives if they drop lower. Of course my ultimate wish is that I don't NEED a c-section, but we'll see.

The plan for now is I go back Monday (at 38 weeks exactly) for a repeat blood draw, NST, and to meet with maternal-fetal medicine to consult (basically just to say hi and have her examine me, review my chart and make sure the MW's aren't missing anything) and then go from there, and if I'm stable and still pregnant next Thursday I'll meet with the consulting OB for the same reasons as above and repeat the labs again and NST then.

Now that we have 2 weeks worth of repeat labs (6+ sets of labs) the consulting OB is fairly confident that I do not have HELLP, but more likely it is gestational thrombocytopenia which in and of itself is not a risk to me or baby except in terms of anesthesia or surgery if needed.

So all in all it was a good day and unless baby boy decides to come on his own this weekend or I have any problems it looks like I will make it 38 weeks, which is good! And maybe, just maybe, keep going beyond that and go into labor on my own and get a VBAC.

If you make it to 38 weeks would they even consider a non-medicinal induction? Foley bulb, rupture of membranes, etc? Of course you could still end up with a c-section, but at least that way you had the chance and maybe some contractions to help baby with the transition into the real world.

When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." John 8:7
