With me in the hospital Scarlett has not slept hardly at all in the last 2 days. She has kept everyone awake in the house and the guys are all taking turns staying up with her. When she came to visit yesterday Mike put her in my arms and she fell right asleep and made cute noises the whole time.

Could she have a preference for me over the guys this early? Today is only day 6 of her life. And we are bottle feeding so it is not a case of who feeds her. Is there an instinct that says "I am the mommy"?

Absolutely. You smell right. She lived in water you created in your body (think how your sweat smells different than theirs...the water is basically a similar smell) and she has been listening to your particular heartbeat for the past 9 months. Regardless of her getting fed from everyone equally, YOU are the person she wants for comfort at any given time. At some point, that usually fades and she will be okay with everyone. But being 6 days new, she has a strong attachment to mama and will always prefer to be in your arms versus anyone else's. Enjoy it!!

Is it horrible that it is one of my favorite things about my babies. Both boys showed a strong preference for me very early and Liam maintained it right until I had Kieran. He still tends to prefer me in most circumstances, although playtime is Daddy-time. Kieran still screams if anyone but me holds him. It can be maddening since he is not a great sleeper right now...but in a sense, it is adorable and bonds me to him quicker.

If she wants to play, Marsi is a Momma's girl. If she wants to sleep, she wants to snuggle with daddy...but that is a recent development. For the first couple of weeks it was only me!

Thank you *kiliki* for my beautiful siggy!

Nora is super easygoing and will happily sleep in the arms of whoever will hold her, not that too many people get the chance with me hogging her all the time

I agree she just wants her mommy because she knows you! She heard your voice for the past 9 months. Your familiar to her.

Reagan was crying for the first couple of weeks if I wasn't holding her, it drove DH nuts, he was so hurt by that, she is still a bit of a momma's girl, but she gets so upset when he leaves and doesn't take her with him - she wants us to all go together she says

Fat Finn prefers me. He'll be hysterical in someone elses arms, and I take him and he sighs and cuddles into my neck. (LOVE that!!) I think they are so used to the sound of our voice and the smell of us, that they know we're their mommy!!

Oh, yeah. Adam wants me 24/7. He lunges for me from dh's arms if he sees me, it's kinda cute. I'm sure the breastfeeding helps but he's a total mamas boy which is nice because my Nora is a daddy's girl.

Oh yeah! It's obvious that Dawson prefers me, and I love it . Danica used to be the same, but now she's a total Daddy's girl (unless she has a booboo, then she comes right to me).

Forever missing our angel November 9, 2010, with us for 9 weeks
