So I woke up this morning with EXTREME back pain. Worst it's ever been. I texted my sister and a couple of my friends well they said "you could have back labor..."

Gah! Labor! I'm only 18 weeks. I don't feel contractions... Just a lot of pain and pressure radiating through my back. But I've never been this far I've never felt contractions (my cervix feels no pressure)... And I have a high pain tolerance like I usually wait things out but this sounds serious.

Do I need to be seen? Or am I over reacting? It's Saturday my OB is closed. So I can't call them.

Update:

So I went to a family clinic doctor... They checked my urine and there is white blood cells so I do have an infection. They won't know what exactly for a couple days. He gave me an antibiotic and told me to take it easy and if I feel tightening of my abdominal to go to the ER right away.

So he didn't say for sure if that was causing my back pain but at least I'm getting an infection taken care of. I'm going to call into work tomorrow and just rest. I'll call my OB Monday and ask of they can at least check my cervix for my sake.

My back is still killing me... It feels swollen all the way up my spine and around... It sucks no ibeprofuen... The anti inflammatory would really help right about now.

I would go in. Its better to be safe than sorry. Back pain can be a sign of labor with no other typical signs. I had back labor with my first. Had no normal contractions until I was further along.

If you have to make a trip to the ER, it's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck to you. Hope it goes away and you're feeling better soon.

Backache is one of the signs of pre-term labor that they tell you to watch for.

I would get checked. If you are in labor and go in now, they may be able to stop it. If you ignore it and don't go in until later, you may be too far along for stopping it.

I had back labor with both my pregnancies. I would definately head into the ER and get checked out. If there is pressure and it is radiating through out your back, it could be something bad.

UTI, bladder, and kidney infections can all cause back pain. Hopefully those antibiotics will help quickly in relieving the pain.

yeah, that sounds like the UTI I had when I was pregnant with Erin. It was so bad it was all the way up into my kidneys and put me in L&D over night with IV antibiotics, and 2 shots/3 pills to get the contractions to stop. I'm glad they've got you on something to help clear it up!

I agree with UTI/kidney infection. I had a lot of back pain when I got that with Darcy. I hope it clears up really soon and you get to feeling better.

So glad you're on antibiotics now to take care of it. My DH gets kidney stones more frequently than he'd like, and he always has very bad back pain. Hope the meds do the trick to zap that infection.

How scary I hope the antibiotics work for you.
I was having horrible back pain in the teen weeks until the baby finally popped out and quit putting as much presure on it... but I have a bad back.

I'm glad that it was just a UTI. Hopefully the meds make you feel better. Take it easy and relax.

Hope it's just a bad UTI! It could also be a little sciatic nerve pain too.

KUP!!
