So to my surprise, I am still 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced So I guess I might have to wait to meet this LO.
Also, I found today that I tested positive for Strep B. My doctor was very vague, she only said that I need antibiotics, which I already knew. I think other people in here have. What does it mean?

Update-It seems like the baby might make its way out sometime this weekend. We ended in the ER last night with a migraine and some contractions. They discharged me because the contractions were too spread apart. I am still having them but again, not consistent and spread apart. Been having lots of blood mucus, loss a big chunk while in the shower this morning.

You'll need two doses of antibiotics (via IV) during labor, four hours apart. The antibiotics are to protect the baby. Depending on your hospital's policies, you'll need to stay for anywhere from 24-48 hours so that the baby can be observed closely. My doctor said that even one dose five minutes before birth reduces the chance of the baby getting an infection. If your water breaks you'll want to go to the hospital right away, as prolonged rupture of membranes is a risk factor in passing on the infection. My doctor said that if I even suspected a leak I should go in.

I didn't get to the hospital in time for any antibiotics. They kept me and baby 48 hours and took my daughter's vitals more frequently (so they could catch an infection sooner if it happened). When I brought my daughter to the doctor at 6 days old, the doctor said that even without antibiotics there's only a 0.5% chance of baby being infected.

I was strep B positive with Jax. I was on an IV, I don't know how many doses of meds they gave me, my mind was on other things I got an epidural so I would've had an IV anyways. I was told they might not even test me this time and just automatically give me the antibiotics.

Good luck! I hope you're holding your baby by the end of the weekend!

I was strep B positive with Eleanor. I also got the IV antibiotics during labor and had no complications.

I hope you get to meet your little one soon!
