We had our 16 wk appt today. No U/S today but we did get to hear the heartbeat. 148 bpm - the baby was sleeping the doc said and she tried to wake him/her up and see if it sped up. She moved my belly around and the heart rate went up and then the baby went back to sleep and back to 148.

Everything else was ok! They sent out more bloodwork for Neural Tube defects and we'll know those results in 4 weeks at our next appt. The doc had 0 concerns at this point and doesn't consider me a high risk pregnancy at all, except that I'm older than dirt, in remission for cancer and pretty much still a basket case with my nerves.

They sent me off with a "see you in a month".

I was very relieved and 2 hours later felt two really hard kicks when baby woke from the nap.

DH was with me and really wanted an U/S but settled for hearing the HB and then taking me for some much needed maternity clothes shopping. I have been teased relentlessly for much of the day for the "fatty" underwear I had to buy. I'll never live this down.

When DS got off the school bus we told him the good news straight away and he gave me a big hug and a kiss and told me that was the best news I could have told him.

I hope you are all doing well and thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Aww that's terrific! It warms my heart to hear that your son was happy and hopefully he wont worry as much and his nightmares will stop. No body wants their children to have nightmares like that.

Hooray for new maternity clothes!!! I hope you enjoy them It's gotta be more comfortable than wearing your old "fat clothes". And speaking of, my DH makes fun of my big-mama panties too. They are big enough to tie to a sail boat and would catch plenty of wind!

So your next appointment is going to be the long fun ultrasound where they get all baby's measurements, right? I hope your DH will be able to go to that one

yay I'm so glad that everything is ok and that baby is doing good. And glad you got some new maternity clothes. They make you so much more comfortable during pregnancy. I've bought some new granny panty's for this pregnancy and DH always makes fun of them. But they are comfortable and that is what matters.

Thank you *Kiliki* for my beautiful siggy
