Since Friday night, baby hasn't been moving as much. Every time I sit and do proper kick counts, we do get 10+ per hour in terms of movements -- shuffles and wiggles.

I'm just worried because usually I feel her ALL the time. She never stops and now I will go a long period without feeling her. But, like I said, if I sit and do the kick counts we get ten overall movements per hour.

Am I being a hypochondriac? I'm off to Costco now, I will check in to see what you girls say this afternoon when I get back. I have a midwife appointment but not until Thursday and it is not my favourite midwife I'm meeting.

Thanks ladies,

This morning I woke up and baby was not moving at all. I tried just relaxing and waiting. I tried fizzy ginger ale, had a cup of strong coffee with lots of sugar. I bounced up and down, and jiggled my belly and for over ninety minutes she did nothing. I tried with the Doppler myself and I was sure I heard her, but I also couldn't tell the difference between mine and hers.

So, I called my midwife who said to come in. I had to wait in the waiting room for about 40 minutes and in that time I did feel some light shuffles. I went in and midwife said she wanted to do an NST. She got the Doppler and the heartbeat was right there! She listened for a couple minutes and heard lots of accelerations and decelerations and said the baby is perfect. I'm so relieved.

She did say that because the baby is normally so active and there has been such a huge change in her behaviour, she wants me to do a biophysical profile, which is booked for Thursday. She also said that the baby is very, very LOW in my pelvis and that maybe she stopped moving because she's about to be born.

So, that's that! Thanks for the thoughts, ladies. I've had some false labor Sunday and Monday -- and only two co tractions tonight. I am starting to hope she comes sooner because I can't stand much more of this anxiety.

With most of my pregnancy's, at 37wks, I noticed a big reduction in movements. If I sat down and did kick counts and got 10 in a hour, I would feel satisfied. If I ever felt like it was just WAY out of the norm though, no matter how many kicks I felt......off to L&D I went. Mothers intuition is a strong tool. If you feel satisfied after her 10kicks, then your more in tuned with her then you think. If your still feeling "Off" then it never hurts to get checked out, EVER! I went to L&D with any of my baby's when I felt off, that's what they are their for, never cared if they labled me crazy or not, its what saved my last baby's life. Im sure she is getting ready for birth and just saving up her energy for birth!

I have days where I feel like baby is slowing down. I count kicks too and usually get 10 in an hour. There have been days where I went 4 hours with no kicks. I drank a glass of KoolAid and laid down and baby started jumping.I agree with Lori, if you feel like baby is slowing down and shouldn't be, call the OB. It can't hurt to take a precaution.

I noticed movements slowed down a lot with Toren too right at the ending weeks. I agree with the other ladies, If it doesn't seem right or you just want reassurance then please go get checked out.

By now baby is pretty squished up in there and has less room to make the big movements that are easier to feel.

Thanks ladies.Baby has been moving lots tonight, and even had hiccups, for a while. I asked my physiotherapist while I was there and she said hopefully it means the baby is getting ready to come soon. Last night and tonight I had what I would call false labor for about three hours each. Strong contractions that really hurt! But, it all means my body is getting ready, so hopefully this all is working towards the goal. I'm going to keep an eye and ear on her and if she slows I'll go ahead and call. She s bumbling around right now so I feel good for tonight.

Just wanted to agree with what the other ladies said and glad you are feeling comfortable with her movement right now. You can try doing a "check in" and just sit and get quiet and think about her, imagine how she might be feeling if you could see inside you. Maybe it sounds weird, but I have been reading this book that suggests that baby may be able to communicate with their moms while in the womb. Sounds kinda out there, but I have found there have been a few times where I just "knew" I needed to go check on my Kody, as far as after he was born, and sure enough he needed me. Anyway, FWIW!

I agree with mothers intuition! If you feel off please go get an NST. Don't feel bad! We have girls come in at the end all the time for decreased fetal movement. We don't mind doing a NST to make sure baby is reactive!
