I have heard that constipation is common in pregnancy, but I am having the opposite problem. I have been having pain and then I literally have to run to the bathroom (sorry TMI). It's not all the time but happens every now and then ever since I found out I was pregnant (I am only 4 weeks 3 days). Anyone else experience this early on in pregnancy? I just don't want it to hurt my little bean!!

Well I am not sure what your having is normal. I did get it one night early on with my son. It scared the heck out of me. But it was just one night. I know my stomach can get upset a lot more in the 1st tri with both my pregnancies. You might call your OB and ask to be safe. I hope it stops for you soon!

with my pregnancy with my daughter, I went from having awful constipation, to awful diarrhoea, to awful constipation, to awful diarrhoea... right throughout. Make sure you drink LOTS of fluids. Maybe give your dr/ob a call to see if they have any other advice

YES! I had diarrhea with this baby early on (right about 4 weeks) and with my daughter too. All of our bodies react differently to hormones and I'm sure that's what it was for me, as it is gone now. If you have any worries about it, though, don't hesitate to call your doctor.

I've been like Emma, fluctuating between the two extremes the whole time.

Drink lots of fluids and get your rest!

I have had it and it is no fun at all. I am even taking an iron supplement and that is supposed to constipate you ... well... not here I have episodes at times that just really are bad, I just make sure that I am taking in enough water or fluids to compensate for what I might have lost. It does get better the farther along you get up until you are about ready to deliver and then it hits again so..... good luck and if it gets bad you might need to ask your dr.

I'm always like that, and it's been no different since being pg. In addition to drinking lots of water, make sure you continue to eat your fibre. Fibre works for constipation AND for loose stools. However, make sure that your fibre intake isn't mainly fruit since that has a laxative effect. Eating whole grain fibres will help you out, and firm you up.

It's true...pg hormones can wreck havoc on our systems and some get constipation, while others are more loose. It's our bodies reaction to the hormones and changes. If you're truly concerned you can talk to your doctor, but there's not much they can do for you. Just stay hydrated and eat healthy to ensure your getting the proper nutrients.
Thank you Claire1977 for my adorable siggy

My doctor told me to eat prunes. Like 3 a day.
