I got my crib bedding set yesterday and it came with a bumper. I looked up articles on the internet about how safe they are and so far I have seen that they are not only unnecessary but also can cause suffocation. I hate to waste it (it's very pretty) so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of other ways it can be used.

I don't have a bumper for that very reason.

As for ideas....could you make it into a pillow? Not that you'd want to put that into a crib either...but...that's the only thing I can think of.
Thanks to babydoll213 for the siggy! My kids' blog Cora's blog

You could make it into a pillow for when baby is older or even a tooth fairy pillow since they are so thin. Or you could just put it in the crib for show when baby is not in there. That is what I did. We coslept with DD until she was almost one so her crib was just for show

my sweety nephew died of SIDS at 4mo, so for that reason i've been a VERY paranoid Mama, particularly when it comes to Gaby's cot/crib environment!!!!!! They DO look cute, but I just couldn't risk it - i know i wouldn't have been able to sleep properly at night had I had a bumper.

You CAN get ones that are 'breatheable', i think they are made of a meshy material? You could look into getting these if you want a bumper...
