Has anyone had really bad nose bleeds I had one last night that lasted 30 minutes ?

Yes i had them as well, it's to do with extra blood supply.

Nosebleeds are common. If you get another one then make sure you put your head down, not back like some people think. Place ice over your forehead and against your neck(it constricts the vessels to stop the bleeding. When you pinch your nose, make sure you pinch the bridge not the soft part.

To prevent them, get a humidifyer. Dry air can cause them. So can having a cold.

I've had 1 that wasn't caused by a ball to the face.lol It lasted 3 hours. After the first 2 I called dh home from work. He called a friend in to watch the girls and we went to the hospital. By the time we got there I was getting anemic, very weak and uncooperative. It took them an hour to get it stopped. My dr had to shake my legs a few time to get me to respond because i was passing out.

If it lasts an hour or more you should go in. If they can't get it stopped they may pack you nose or cauterize the vessels. I don't know which would be worse.

coming over from the may 2006 group.. i got a nose bleed on saturday and i thought it was strange... but it quit 10 minutes later...
