Hi, My name is Becky I normally post in my DDC (may 2012) and TTC#1 Grads.

I came over here today because I have a question about applying for Child Health Plus in NY state and so I thought maybe it would be good to ask where there is likely to be more NY moms.

So my question is, my husband and I lost insurance when I left my job because of my pregnancy and we fell through a bunch of cracks trying to get back on. DH is a pastor of a church and is technically self employed and low income because the church takes care of most of our bills but doesnt pay a high salary. However they don't pay health insurance. Anyway I have coverage for prenatal and the birth and our baby when he is born will be covered until next feb by a local program which is fantastic but it limits where I could take him. So we wanted to apply for child health plus. But I don't know how to go about doing it since he isnt born yet and doesnt have a birthday or social security number or anything. Every time I call the state offices I just get a run around and I can't get any clear answers. So if anyone has been through this or knows what I should do Advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

if you havent already called this number, this is the number for CHP. 1-800-698-4KIDS. Also, ask the social worker at the hospital when you deliver to meet with you they will be able to assist.
