I just got a job and while I'm working my husband is working too. My mom is going to be babysitting our son but we have no clue what to pay her. She'll be watching him from 7am until 12pm (6hrs) Tuesday until friday. How much a day should we pay her? Or I guess a better question would be, how much would you pay someone per day to watch you child? My son is 13 months old if that helps.

I pay my adult day sitter $25/day, and I pay my teen evening sitters $5/hr. Can she give you receipts for taxes?

With receipts, we pay $12 for under 5 hours , and $23 for 5+ hous. Thats what we pay at the daycare though.
The casual sitter I used sometimes, was $4 per child, with receipts.
Congrats on the new job!

Maybe send some emails out or call some dayhomes and just enquire about the pricing around your area for part time care. They dont have to know your looking at not going with them just that you want prices and your looking for a day home. I think around here we are at $30 a day. Its expensive but I havent called around at all in a while (I did when I was thinking of going to work to see how much it would cost) But again they dont have to know your just looking at prices for your mother.

Dayhomes are about $30/day or $600/month in Alberta
