Do you give to the needy at this time of year? What do you do?

Phoenix's school has an angel tree. Phoenix picked an infant boy off the tree (because we have one and she thought it was sad that a little baby wouldn't get Christmas gifts) and I got a toy for the baby. I also have donated food to the food bank. I just buy the prepackaged bags at the grocery store and put it in the box provided for the food bank. I have in past delivered Christmas hampers with my mom to needy people that contained food and toys, that was an experience.

Huge thanks to *Kiliki* for the FANTABULOUS new siggy!!

we do toy's for tots, and the food bank. when i was younger, my oldest brother used to take me to a church where we'd put together the food hampers for the families getting them.

i think once estyn gets a little older we'll do something like that again.

We give food for the food bank, we give a donation to an orphanage in Haiti (but I do that a few times a year) and for teacher's gifts we "buy" from our church' relief organization (like $20 supports a literacy teacher for a month or you can get doctors visits for orphans, buy a goat that type of thing). Each kid also sends a shoebox away for Samaritans purse.

This year, I did Angel Tree Gifts. We bought a toy for an eleven year old boy (everyone seems to pick the younger kids, so we decided to do an older one).. plus just donations every time we go shopping.. this year, money was a little tighter so we didn't do as much as we'd like to but most years we do Christmas shoeboxes and food hampers too..
