I'm in... get me on the horse already! I am starting what I'd like to call "operation one hot momma". For now, I don't have any goals weight wise. I just need to get more fit. I go to the DR next week and will discuss my back at that time so until then I'll be keeping it to walking/running and my normal workout (building stuff... which kills my back too so I've not been at it hard core). Did you know that for a cow like me I can burn 400 calories an hour while doing carpentry?! How crazy wonderful is that?!

For me, activity has been it. I know some women do really well dieting and cutting calories- not me. I enjoy exercising, so that's what I can focus on. If you enjoy carpentry, do it.. and if you burn some extra calories while doing it, all the better!

BTW, I've had chronic sciatica, and while it still bothers me some days, I know it would be so much worse if I didn't exercise. I think daily stretching is something that helps, days that I can't do anything else I spend at least a couple minutes stretching my hamstrings (sciatica tends to cause the hamstrings to ball up which places more strain on the lower back) and doing the cat stretch. If you can learn a few gentle stretches, you might get a lot of relief!
