From what I've been reading a big part of PCOS is heavy flow for a longer period of time. Is this true for you ladies? Is it one of those things that everyone with PCOS has? My flow is usually medium for 2 days light 1 and then minor spotting for one. Every now and then, like this one, I'll have a really heavy cycle but normally no.....

I think it goes either way, either really heavy if you haven't had AF in a long while and your lining got really built up, OR lighter than normal because your progesterone issues (which is often a result of not ovulating) prevented your lining from getting thick enough at all. I know our ladies here experience both. I am usually on the lighter period team, unless I'm on Clomid or exercising really regularly.

I am one of the ones that has a heavier flow for about 6-7 days. After I had my DD my flow became this way, along with becoming a lot more painful.

Before I started meds to help me O... I had a barely there AF, maybe a couple of days of bleeding and no cramps ever. I felt so lucky for so long that I was blessed with such wonderful AF's after watching all my friends suffer from the cramps and heavy flow. I was wrong. I don't ovulate... so my AF was really just annovulatory bleeding. Now that I'm on meds.... holy moly! I have an AF like never before, but only when I am triggered and actually O in a cycle. Good luck!

Thanks for the input ladies. I should know by now there is no such thing as "normal" when it comes to women's bodies.

We are all so different, so there isn't really a "normal" AF. I was one of the light AF girls, even when I was ovulating, it still wasn't anywhere as heavy as I know alot of women get.

My AF is light and short... oddly enough when I was on BCP it was heavy and 7 days! I also don't really have flow, when I have a medium day I only count it as medium because it's all brown clots, gross I know!

I'm just like Tammy - I was heavier on BCP, but now I normally only have a day or two of light and maybe one day of medium, with spotting thrown in for fun.

And my cycles vary from 65 days at the longest to 18 days at the shortest.

Spotting is my biggest issue, it happens so much sometimes its almost like constant AF - during my 65 day cycle, I was spotting for about half of it.

So there really isn't any "normal" among women - and as I've learned, there isn't even really a normal for ONE woman!
