I am new to discussion boards but interested in hearing other's stories and suggestions. I had been on bcp for 7 years, basically since I started my period and stopped it July 2013 so my husband and I could begin ttc. I did not get my period for 4 months so discussed it with my obgyn when went in for my pap. She started me on metformin and did some tests to confirm PCOS. Now I have been taking provera to induce periods then femara for 5 days to hopefully induce ovulation however my blood tests all show no ovulation. This month femara has been increased and I am going to use opks to see if we are just checking my progesterone level at the wrong time. Any suggestions or similar experiences? I just feel hopeless at this point. I am currently dieting and exercising, my BMI is 27 so not terrible, also taking vitex.

When I was TTC I was on Metformin. Started Oct. '10. and got a period Nov.'10 and Feb. '11. Then in May '11, because of the aweful side effects I was having from Metformin I was going to stop in June '11. I stopped and then found out I was pregnant in July. But my conception was the last week of May. I never was into keeping up with ovulation sticks or any other form of cycle records.

Sending baby dust your way.

I'm also new to this board, and also newly diagnosed with pcos. DH and I have been trying for about a year and finally went to an RE. All the tests confirmed that due to the number of follicles in each ovary (15+), my irregular periods and that I don't ovulate every cycle I have pcos. I took provera too and got my period, took clomid 100mg cd3-7 and went in today cd10 for my blood work and ultrasound. I have 2 viable follicles in one... 1.3 and 1.7 cm the nurse said it looks like I responded well to the treatment so far (although the hot flashes from the clomid are brutal!).

I go back monday for more bloodwork and ultrasound, and if the follicles are still a good size I am supposed to go ahead with ovidrel which is an ovulation trigger shot. Is this something you've had already? Sounds like thats the only difference so far in our treatments.

I was using digital opks but it was getting expensive! This cycle I am just going to let the tests tell me if ovulation happens. However I do temp each morning, do you chart your bbt? This is also a good indicator of ovulation in addition to the opks you're using.

I used opks this cycle but had 3 LH surges and blood work suggested no ovulation. So not sure if the opks are the best way to go with PCOS. Not sure if that is the case or if I am just not catching it at the right time. I do not have any side effects from Femara, never tried Clomid. I recently began seeing the fertility specialist at the OBGYN ' S office and she is much more aggressive so hoping things will happen. I have not tried the shot before. My other Dr. Never did ultrasounds so next month they are increasing my femara dosage and doing an ultrasound on day 10-12 to see if my ovaries are responding. Fingers crossed that the injection works for you!!

Thank you! DH just gave it to me tonight after work, we got the go ahead from the clinic once the blood work came back. Now we have to dtd starting tomorrow for 3 days! Fingers crossed this works. Starting friday I also have to do progesterone supplements for 12 days.

Keep us posted with your next cycle. I hope the ultrasounds give some info on whether the femara is working, definitely ask about the ovidrel though if you arent ovulating, I'm hoping this trigger shot is what gets me to ovulate.
