Hi, if anyone is around to read this.

My partner and father of my child is catholic. I am not, however when we first started dating he made it clear that any children he had would be.

My question is at what age are catholic babies baptized? I grew up with no religion so this whole thing is very foreign to me and I am trying to prepare myself as much as possible.

Usually it is done when they are infants. Mine have been anywhere from 4 to 6 months old when we baptize them. If you can, I suggest you take an RCIA class. You do not have to become Catholic at the end of it but it will teach you about Catholicism. Also, there is a great radio show called Catholic Answers Live. You can look it up on podcast. They answer many questions from Catholics and non Catholics and will also teach you more about our faith.

Mom to 4 beautiful kids! 3 on Earth and 1 in heaven. Our little girl, Matilda Hope had Down Syndrome. She was born with TMD, a disease that is like leukemia. She fought that and beat it. Then, she had liver failure. She beat that, too. On October 17, 2014 she had NEC, necrotizing enterocolitis. My baby went to Heaven on October 19, 2014. She lived exactly one month.

As soon as you're ready to raise them Catholic is the rule at our church. So anytime after birth before they're like 6. At that point they have to go through RCIA instead of just Baptism.

Mine were baptized at around one month old. We went through the baptism classes before birth and picked a date we knew would be after the birth. This let us plan for family out of state to attend.

My oldest was 3 months and my second was close to 6 months. It is usually don't when they are infants though.

PM to see if I am available to make a siggy - decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
