Do you do something special for Advent? Do you have an Advent calendar? If so, what kind?

What about an Advent wreath? If you have one, do you light it every Sunday? Do you have special prayers for when you light it? Where do you display it in your home?

I told you, this isn't a Christmas thread. It's an Advent thread. Advent is right around the corner!!

Re: Not being about Xmas... I think the lady doth protest too much

In short order, the answers to your questions:

1. Not in recent years, no
2. Buying one this year soon
3. Magnetic
4.-8. No.

But your asking has made me think that perhaps I should look into getting one!

We have an advent wreath that we usually light every evening at prayer and/or supper time. We try to do daily devotions in the form of the Jesse tree as well. What we do varies a little year to year, depending on what else is giong on in our lives at the time.

We really try to observe Advent as the time of "little lent" and preparation that it was intended to be. It's hard, though, when everyone and even the parish plans Christmas events during the time of Advent!

But I'm glad to asked about the candles because I need to order some for our wreath; there is no place to order them locally and last year we used paper ones!
