We moved all our food storage into the scrap booking room. This way we can find it so much easier than have some of it stashed in the master bedroom, some under Beau;'s crib, some in the kitchen. It really isn't worth much if you can't find what you need when you need it. Next we have to inventory it and determine how much we need for 3 months 6 months and a whole year.

Next we have to come up with recipes and things we can eat straight from food storage without any fresh components. Dinner last night was asparagus stir fry. With fresh asparagus, onion and meat. So I need to try making that from canned asparagus, dried unions and maybe canned meat or maybe jerky? So my husband wants 14 dinner recipes completely from food storage. Which would be easy if I got to use stuff from the freezer but not for these 14 recipes.

My husband also just made me a solar oven so I have to find some recipes to cook in that too.

Oh the only fresh food I get to use is eggs. But I have to buy enough feed for 8 chickens for a whole year as well.

You can see most of what we have to work with right here:

The two bottom ones I think are flour and sugar

Our canned milk stash. This way I'll be able to have whole milk for my babies. Powdered milk is fat free. We have some of that but mostly for cooking.

My fresh egg supply.

Four future dinners and my two attack Geese.

WOW, I'm in awe of your food storage! My parent's don't even have half that much! I am excited for my move next week because it means I'm closer to a place where I can start my food storage.

Thank you to the wonderful ladies who mad the blinkies!

"The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude..... These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are percisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character and increase our compassion for others."
