Alright I have a couple of minutes so I'm going to try to type this up quick!

Lillian was born May 10, 2011 at 12:32 p.m. weighing 7 lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long!

Monday morning at 3 am I started having contractions. They were pretty sporadic and just a little painful. I decided that I would still go to work that day and see what happened. I timed them all day and they were staying between 5-7 minutes long and not too painful. When I got home that afternoon, I called L&D and they suggested I stay home and wait it out.

At about 7, they were getting more painful so John called L&D and told them we were coming in. We got there around 8, they checked me and I was only at 2 cm. So they had me walk around the floor for an hour and contractions were coming about every 4.5 minutes. When she rechecked me, I hadn't progressed at all. She asked if we had had sex recently and I told her we had the night before. She then tells me that the sperm is probably what was causing me to have contractions and that it was probably early labor but would most likely last for a few days. She told me to go home, take two tylenol PM and a warm bath and that they should subside. Yeah right...

So we go home and I take two tylenol PM and it does nothing for me. I finally have to go downstairs or I'd keep John up all night. I started timing the contractions again and between 2-3 am they started coming about every 2.5-3 minutes. I also went to the bathroom and lost my entire mucous plug. Finally at 3, I just can't take the pain anymore so John called L&D and off we go.
They ended up taking me up in a wheelchair and a lady at the desk said “hey she was here earlier but she did NOT look like that!” They get me into a triage room and check me and I had progressed to 5 cm so they got me hooked up in a room.

I asked for an epidural immediately which seemed to take FOREVER. After it was finally inserted, I was checked again and at 7 cm. I was then able to get some rest finally which was amazing. The next time I was checked (I don’t remember when) I was at about a 9 and the midwife asked if she could break my water so she did that. There was a little bit of meconium in the water so I knew peds would be in the room for delivery.

The next time I was checked, I had only a little bit of cervix left so they put me on my side to position her to help get rid of it. When I was finally fully dilated, her head was still only at about a +1 so the midwife decided to let me labor down for a while. Sometime during all this, I was told that I had developed a fever because I was most likely getting an infection. They started to pump me with antibiotics right away and also gave me some Tylenol to help keep the fever down.
At 11:57, I started pushing (which is an entirely different experience than you imagine!) and she was born at 12:32 p.m. She was taken to the warmers immediately to be suctioned out. I was able to hold her for a little bit and then she had to be taken to the NICU to be tested because of the infection I got and to start receiving antibiotics.

I later found out that I ended up spiking a 103.2 degree temperature and after over 3 hours in NICU, Lillian was returned to me and I found out she spiked a temperature as well – 103.9! So unfortunately we both had to receive antibiotics for the entire time we were there and they had to take a special culture from her to make sure my infection hadn’t spread to her.

Overall, everything went really well. The experience was nothing like I imagined it and if every birth goes this well, I may have 50 kids! I barely tore and only ended up needing 2 stitches which the midwife only put in as a precautionary. Breastfeeding is going great and she is such a good baby!

I think that about covers it all!

Here are a couple of pictures!

Congrats! I had a 102 fever when I was in labor too, and Jackson was born with a fever also (they didn't tell me how high). He had to have an IV in his arm for 3 days and had to wear a diaper over it the whole time...so uncomfortable for him! Looks like she was a little more comfortable though

thank you gypsystar for my wonderful siggy!

Momma to Emma, Elzie, Gretchen, Olive, and Rogan

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.
