Wednesday morning I woke up kind of disappointed that I wasn't in labor I figured I would be after finding out the day before that I was 3 cm dilated and have been having early labor contractions for the last week - the doctor was surprised I was still pregnant due to all the contractions. At around 10am I started having more of the contractions that I had been having previously although they were slightly stronger but not by much. I spent the morning timing them but there was no real pattern they were coming any where from 15 - 6 minutes apart and they weren't get stronger at least not that I noticed. It went on like that for the majority of the day. At around maybe 5 or 6 in the evening I noticed a small bloody glob when I wiped so I figured that labor wasn't too far away.

At around 11 pm I decided to hang out in bed and mess around on the computer until 12:30 when my husband usually got home from work. I also used the time to continue to time the contractions that were still no stronger or regular than they were before. When my husband got home I told him that for sure I was going to wake up in the morning in labor at least I better We sat and talked for while and around 1:45 decided to go to sleep. I never fell asleep I was too excited I KNEW baby was going to come in the next day or two. At 2 I got another contraction but this one was different it was definitely stronger than the ones I had been having all day. So I laid in bed and timed them for a little while they were coming about 5 minutes apart and getting stronger.

Here's where my stupidity comes in.....think I would know better seeing this is my fourth time at this but no. Anyway, I decided to go downstairs and monitor my contractions since I didn't want to wake my husband up. For about an hour they were coming every 2-3 minutes and getting really painful at this point...........did I decided to wake hubby and go to the hospital - nope - instead I thought that I should lay down on the couch and try to sleep that way I would be rested. Honestly I wasn't even 100% sure yet that I was actually in labor. This is a major idiot moment on my part. Well laying down helped space out the contractions more I made it 9 minutes at one point until the baby moved and set off another one. I was told not to come in to labor and delivery unless my contractions were 5-2 minutes and painful enough that I couldn't walk or talk....they were less than 3 minutes apart and pretty **** painful but I could still walk and talk through them - I actually tested this. I was afraid I would be sent away if I showed up at this point. So I'm laying on the couch it's now 3:30am and I get this killer contraction and then feel a gush of warmth between my legs, I jump up and run to the bathroom. The amount of fluid was little and nothing else was coming out so I assumed I peed myself. I changed my underwear and shorts and sat outside in the front of the house just in case, while out there I had another really bad contraction and then a huge gush of fluid came out. Okay, now I decide I should go to the hospital. My contractions were like 1-2 minutes apart and horrible. I woke my husband up and told him what was happening....after lecturing me for not waking him up sooner (what?! I wanted to be sure) we left for the hospital.

Now my contractions were pretty much on top of each other and unbearable so my sweet husband actually speeds down the highway doing 90+ mph (the man barely even goes the speed limit) Well right before we get to our exit we pass a cop and my husband whispers to me that we're going to be pulled over. So we take our exit and sure enough the lights turn on behind us. At our exit we need to make a left turn to get to the hospital which was only like 5 minutes away but the cop is yelling at us to turn right, my husband tries to yell back that I'm having a baby very soon but the cop didn't want any part of it and yelled again that we had to turn right. So we did, at this point I start crying, we're going away from the hospital I'm in horrible agonizing pain and who knows how long this is going to take. Since we're on a major road we can't just pull over we have to find a side street and the closes one is 3/4 of a mile away. Once there and pulled over, my husband yells out the window that I am in labor and NEED to get to the hospital right away. So the cop takes is sweet time to walk over to my side of the car to "make sure" and then decides to quiz us. He asks whats the names of the hospital and whats the cross streets? Are you freakin kidding me I can't even remember my name!! I just give this look like -I'm going to shoot you in the face with your own gun if you cause me to have this baby in the car- and ask him to just escort us to the hospital. But because we didn't give him a name he doesn't know where to go. So here's the deal there are only two hospitals for a 30 mile radius to where we are and one is a cancer treatment center where do you think I want my baby to be born at? Another cop who showed up announced that I was going to West Valley and that he would escort us. So after almost 10 minutes of that total stupidity we were finally on our way again. We get escorted to the ER entrance and arrive at 4:16am (my husband was keeping track of the time) The officer runs in and tells them that a baby is coming very soon. When I get in there a nurse has a wheelchair waiting for me and calmly walks me to the desk in the ER to be asked some questions.

Now it gets even crazier *thanks to me*
While sitting there being asked stupid questions I get hit with what had to be the strongest contraction yet I actually jump out of the chair and yelled that I have to push NOW!! I fell back into the chair and could actually feel the baby's head. Two nurses run up to me and start running me down the hall way to the elevator. I ask them to please just let me have the baby in the ER I can feel his head. They said that's against policy.....WHAT?! This is an emergency situation I am sitting on my baby's head. So we get to the elevator and now there are more nurses yelling at me not to push this whole time my body is pushing on it's own. I beg them to just let me have the baby in the elevator, I can't stop pushing. Of course they wouldn't allow that. We get to the 2nd floor, labor and delivery and they stop me in the hallway trying to actually decide what room to put me in - hell I'll have the baby in the hallway at this point. While they're deciding I'm stopped in front of a room that looked good to me so I got out of the wheel chair and started heading towards the room, this causes like 4 nurses to push me back in the wheel chair saying that that room is already taken, I tell them I don't mind sharing a bed this will only take a minute. Well that at least got them to figure out where to put me real fast. I was rushed to the next room where I ran to the bed while a nurse was yelling "drop your pants" way ahead of you on that one. I got my shorts off so fast and jumped up on the bed spread my legs and started pushing, the main nurse told me to wait so she could get her glove on..yeah right I didn't listen of course. I pushed a second time and then a third and was told to stop, the cord was loosely wrapped around the baby's neck, quick two second fix I then pushed on last time and at 4:22 am exactly 6 minutes after arriving at the hospital Michael Christian was born. He was delivered by an awesome l&d nurse who did a great job for having about a minute to assess the situation.

He was born on Thursday August 4th. He weighed 6 lbs and 14 oz and he was 18 inches long. Not very big but he's healthy and he's absolutely perfect.

Looking back at it now the whole thing was so stupid that it's actually funny.
