I'm pretty upset. Baby born at 8lb 5oz, and dropped to 7lb 1 oz in hospital (12% loss). They said that was ok because her weight could have been inflated due to iv.

Anyways, she is 7lb 10oz today- only up 1oz in a week.

She does seem like a lazy nurser but her latch is good now. She is just sleepy and falls asleep on the breast often. I try all the stimulation tips but its so hard to get her to actively suck. Once she is off she roots again, then she falls asleep again.

Anyways, I could supplement after feedings with expressed milk but I am so hesitant to do so. I could wait a few days to see if it gets better. I just want this to work as it should, and its really hard for me that its not working. I go back tuesday to check her weight again.

If I start supplementing will I have to pump always, or would this just be a temporary thing? At what point can you go back to exclusively breastfeeding?

I should probably venture into the city to see an LC.

I just dont get it because her diaper output seems adequate.
