Some background info:
A few weeks ago, I was bored *due to my being pretty sick with nothing to do* and stumbled into the heated debates. Naturally I wanted to see why the circumcision debate was being premoderated, so I checked it out. I can honestly say I did not realize circumcision was such a big issue. My husband and I have been thinking *unfortunately not doing at the moment * about having more children, hoping for a boy. Circumcision was never a discussion; we assumed that since we are both jewish, it is the religious traditional thing to do. Ever since reading the circ debate board, I have wondered...WHY?

I have recently been told the religious reason why Jewish boys are circumsized. You are welcome to visit the circumcision care board if you would like to see the responses and why the boys are circ'ed *but please do not post...I really do not want to cause any debate*

And that is why I am posting here, in the Intact Board. I would really appreciate other views on why jewish boys are circumsized. Are there any jewish mommies out there that have not circ'ed their son(s)?

*AGAIN...I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A DEBATE...just some point of views because I want to do what is best for my future sons*

Hi Ashley,

If you are open-minded to the alternative Jewish viewpoint of not circing, you might want to look at these websites or even contact the site owners.

Some Jews have a bris shalom which is the beautiful prayerful ceremony that does not involve any cutting of your newborn son. The above link has a little bit of info on it or you can google "bris shalom." Also celebrants:

Some Jewish moms speak about circumcison here:

Hope that helps!
