Can you share with us a helpful tip you have learned along the way?

Warm water helps hands bleed. (I actually learned this when I worked as a phlebotomist.) If you are having trouble with getting blood have them wash their hands with really warm water. It brings the blood to the surface.

Thanks girl! I want to take a phlebotomy course here so that I can get really good at drawing blood from clients. It still freaks me out. I have done it but I would love to take the course.

I have learned along the way that he is not a machine and that he doesn't always have to be perfect...just within normal range. It has made his life more normal when I got that and we are all more relaxed and happy. I owe some of that to you ladies and guys.

A helpful tip for someone on shots. If you are having trouble with your little one & shots, and are using a syringe, not an insulin pen, try using an "inject-ease" device. It is a little gizmo that you put the syringe in after you fill it; it is spring loaded, and you push a button and the needle goes in very quick, then you just push the plunger to give the insulin. It hides the syringe, and made a huge difference for Danielle when we were doing shots(age 3). When I asked our clinic about this device...they said, "oh you won't like it" and dismissed me...I went ahead and ordered it on the advice of a mom online...and I was soooo glad I did. I have shared the info with other moms of little ones, and I swear every mom I told about this device said it was a good one. They cost about $20 and are well worth the $. We had two or three of them at one time.
