Has your daughter seen a pulminologist? It is possible that she could have asthma without having allergies. Also, asthma presents itself in different ways- not just wheezing. My daughter has moderate-severe asthma, and it presents as a really mucousy-sounding cough- no wheezing involved at all. She obviously produces a lot more secretions when her asthma is 'acting up', then when it's just normal. This could be the case with your daughter. I wouldn't mess around with sleep apnea though, has she had a sleep study done recently? If not, I would see the pulminologist and start there so you can find out exactly how long and how often her apnic spells are. Keep us posted on what you find out.

I think that since you are having to sleep with her because she is afraid and that it is impeding her from a good night's sleep definately warrants an appointment with the pulminologist. This could ultimately effect Mia's ability to learn and interact with the worls around her. Kids desperately need sleep so that thier brains and bodies and work and develop normally. again, keep us posted.
