Hey Everyone, I'm a regular here on the boards but have a question about my daughter who just turned 2 in December. A couple months ago, I had strep throat. Shortly thereafter, my 3 year old got sick with a fever, stuffy nose (all kinds of cold symptoms.) My sister-in-law works in a Pediatrics office so I had her just bring my 3 year old some antibiotics I gave her for a week thinking she probably just got the strep throat from me. Well, she got better for about a week and a half THEN had another fever come on with the cold symptoms again, had these for a few days, then it went away for a couple weeks and now, today.... she's got a runny nose and fever again. I'm starting to get a little worried other than these, I don't see anything different about her except maybe a couple little red "acne" looking bumps on her cheeks she's never had before. She's complained with her belly hurting a couple of times but I think that's just cause she wants a snack - it's usually when she first wakes up in the mornings.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I'm someone who always thinks the worst, so obviously, I'm going to get her into a doctor as soon as possible, but in the mean time.. I'd like to know if this has happened to anyone elses children and what it could possibly be causing this??

Thanks so much for any advice you can give me

Well, there are several things that I've already ruled out because of the time of year. I don't know very much about Alabama, but I assume there aren't many ticks this time of year? I also assume you would most certainly know if your daughter had gotten bit by a tick.

With her list of symptoms, it can really be anything. I would advise trying to keep her fever and any pain down alternating Tylenol and IB profen. If it gets very high, put in her a shallow tepid bath- if that doesn't work take her to the ER.

Are her lymph nodes swollen? Is she being treated for any other conditions like asthma? Keep us posted on her status!

Hi there! I'm new here but I saw your post. I would definitely take her to the pediatrician. He/she needs to SEE the patient in order to make a diagnosis. Different antibiotics kill different strains of bacteria and have different regimens. Obviously your child has an infection of SOME sort (the fever) and it needs attention. Hope this helps!!!
