...babywearing as an attatchment parenting style or not? I wear my son alot, I was just curious on what category ou think that fits in? I am far from practicing AP, but I noticed some people thought babywearing fit in with AP.

just curious...

Hmmm, I think most of the baby wearing people I know are into attachment parenting so I sort of connect the two. I wouldn't consider myself an AP parent but we co-sleep.

Yeah, I really dont know where I fit in at all. I'd a SAHM who breastfed only and I am considering some form of sling for my next baby just for the convenience of it (since I will have my 2yo to attend to also this time around). But I never co-slept, cloth diapered, and I definatly used the cry it out method. I am just all over the place!

I personally wouldnt consider it A/P. I could see where it would be sorta related though....hmm, I dont know LOL When Peyton was smaller, I would carry him around in my carrier when I was really busy around the house. It was easier to me. And now when I take Patrick to the park or we go out I put Peyton in the carrier. Im actually looking to buy the hip one.

I don't think it means that you are necessesarily an AP person, but I do think people associate the two. I think the reason is so many people that AP also breast feed, and baby wearing is really useful for NIP. KWIM? I also have a sling and use is occasionally, not as often as you, but I definitely do not fit in with our AP friends. I think parenting styles are like religions. For example, I consider myself Lutheran, but I don't believe or do everything according to the Lutheran religion. I might think the Catholics have some good ideas, but I wouldn't really call myself Catholic. OK, I know that was kinda cheesy, but it's the only way I could think of a comparison.

Yeah I agree. I am sort of all over the place too, we "co-sleep" for a few hours in the morning. I wear him alot (and even belong to a babywearing forum), but otherwise I am for letting babies CIO and bottle feeding, as well as disposable diapers.

I agree with what the others said and speaking of slings, I have a brandnew Maya Wrap for sale if anyone is interested. It's up for sale on E-Bay for $40 with free shipping. I ordered it a few months ago and should have gotten the larger size, but never went through the process of returning and getting the bigger one. It comes with the Maya Wrap DVD. If anyone is interested here's the auction ID# on E-bay (Item number: 7738447587)

Like most of the responses I'm somewhere in between. I used a sling or carrier until they got too heavy. I nursed 2 of my children but not for an extended period, only 6 and 8 months. Cloth diapers gross me out. We coslept with our first two and would have loved if our 3rd child would have slept with us but he likes his crib. I don't believe in CIO but that's my preference and I'm not into judging others if they choose to do it.

I'll be using a sling while the baby is still light enough (I'm not a big or strong person). But it's more for convenience. I'm a SAHM...or rather I will be. And that means I'm not in the same place for long periods of time. I'll probably only where it around the house with the newborn and when I go out alone to avild the hassel of a stroller.

Alot of carriers can hold babies up to 35 lbs. My baby is going to be a sling baby as much as possible! I am awaiting a mei tai carrier in the mail, should come today. Smeone on a babywearing forum made it for me! (i couldn't afford one of the big name brand mei tais right now). Eventually I want a babyhawk and a kozy carrier.
