These last 3 months have been such a whirlwind! I found out I'm pregnant, graduated University, got engaged and just got offered a great permanent job thats 3 hours away from where me and my fiance live and want to continue living.

He's been fantastic through it all. Saying we will make it work, he knows how much this job means to me and we can do the commuting back and forth to see each other as often as possible. Throw in the fact that we've been together 3 years but still didnt live together due to a severe cat allergy on his part and my refusal to part with my cat of 9 years!

Anyways my landlord asked if she could take my cat (she also loves him dearly) and I could have as much visitation rights as I wanted. I know he's really happy in the house he's in right now and it would break my heart to bring him somewhere where he could either only be allowed in one or two rooms and even then would probably cause my fiance pretty bad asthma attacks. So that situations pretty much resolved.

Now for work. We came up with this great plan of getting a nice 3 bedroom place where we live and then renting a smaller suite for me where my job is. Everything sounds great...except of course I'm pregnant therefore I have to be worrying about something! Where I will be working you have to take a ferry to get to. Which only run 6am-9pm. I'm freaking out that I will go into labor in the evening and he wont be able to get to me! I was even frantically looking at charter plane prices last night...lol.

Were also moving my stuff out of my place today so my family is coming to help. We are then going to do a big dinner so all the parents can meet each other! I hope it all goes well. Anyone have any good stories of this? My friend just did it over Christmas and it was a disaster...I'm hoping for better luck! Anyways I should get back to packing now!

Wow, you have had a ton going on!!!! I don't know how you're coping with it all, but you sound like you're doing well.

So glad to hear you're cat's going to a wonderful home & that your fiance won't have to worry about his allergies anymore. That sounds like it worked out perfectly.

Is your job a three hour drive each way??

When my parents and my now dh's parents met it actually went really well. Our moms liked each other right away. They still get along today. So it IS possible. Good luck with the dinner - can't wait to hear how it goes!!
