I recently read somehwere on the internet that permanent background noise might not be beneficial for the development of babies "inner voice" ( therefore they say permanent TV in the background is also not beneficial for baby ) How much time of hearing musics daily do you think is okay for your LO?

I think background noise is fine. Babies with older siblings constantly have noise around them, background and foreground.

I also cannot function without background noise.

Thanks to Claire1979 for the amazing siggy.

Between the tv ALWAYS being on in my house, and throughout my entire childhood, the boys always making some noise at all times of the day, the only quiet time Bailey gets is from the time I go to bed until 7-9 am

I absolutely hate background noise. I am known for very angrily grabbing the remote and turning the tv off when the baby is fussing and I am trying to get him changed or dressed etc. I just can't handle it. My hubby on the other hand turns the tv on while he's playing guitar! Drives me nuts....to me silence is golden. I don't get enuf of it...I'd like to lock my tv up and only turn it on a few times a week.

As far as babies go I think background noise from a tv or radio constantly being on is not healthy....background noise from siblings is different. Obviously the more kiddos in a house the louder it will be. That sorta noise is fine cause it's just part of living. Think about it..back in the old days people didnt have tv...and I swear they were smarter..their kids werent diagnosed with ADD and everything else we seem to be riddled with now with all of our technology. Much more peaceful time.

To answer your question I am not sure how much music a day would be appropriate for a baby..some definitely I just wouldnt have it on ALL day know what I mean. Ben likes classical and Motown, but I only play it in bits for him.

Silence? What's that? lol I haven't had silence in my house since my daughter started talking.. lol

But I personally think it's fine to have noise on in the background.. One positive thing about noise is that they get use to loud noises. My daughter is use to noise and she can sleep through a bad thunder storm.. The kind that shakes the house.. She can sleep through anything.. It's great! As for their inner voice.. I think that all depends on there personality..
