Any paci-users thinking about weaning the paci around the 1 year mark???

Caroline only takes the paci at nap and nighttime. I'm not sure when I should start to wean her from this. Is it worse if I wait??? I know for dental reasons, I don't want prolonged paci use. However, it's such a part of her bedtime routine I don't know if I'm ready to tackle that battle. When I put her to bed I give her a favorite satin elephant blankie and she opens her mouth for the paci and then rolls over. Content as can be.

What's everyone else doing?

Right now were working on weaning from bottles. So once he's accostumed to that, we'll start with the paci.

I only really give it to him during naps and at bedtime.

Just want to add that I am SO not looking forward to that...

Thank you Tasha_Mae for my beautiful siggy!

Connor weaned him self from the paci around the 9month mark. Just stopped taking it. I kept them for about a month to make sure he wasnt going to start sucking his thumb. After a month I threw them all away!

Ds is the least interested in his binky of all 3 kids. He only wants it for about 5 min to actually fall asleep and then doesn't touch it the rest of the night. I think he'll give up those 5 minutes pretty easily on his own sooner rather than later.

But I may not be the best person to ask. Dd2 still has her binky at bedtime at age 3 and I have no plans to take it away. I don't see the big deal with a toddler having a bedtime binky. I let dd1 give it up on her own (about 3 1/2) and will do the same with dd2 and ds unless teeth or something actually becomes an issue.

Nope, not at the 1 year mark. I'd like to have it gone before the 2 year mark though. He really loves his binky and it helps him to sleep at night, so I'm not really in a rush to get rid of it.

We are going to work on the bottle first. The paci I am not too concerned about. She uses it mostly in the car and when she goes to sleep so if she keeps it for a while, no problem. I really just want to get rid of the bottles and feel like that's going to be the harder part!

Same here, work on the bottles first since I know that will be a battle. when he see's it (almost everytime), he starts reaching for it, he gets so excited. Right now, he takes a few sips at a time from the cup but mostly uses it for chewing on.

Since he's been teething for awhile, the paci helps him to have something to chew on. he chews it and only uses it for sleep.

Thank you Misfitinmn for my beautiful siggy!

Bella only uses it at nap and bed times and as a last resort if her teeth are really bothering her. I'm not concerned about it now, but will use her 2nd birthday as a marker
