Between the post about body image and the weather warming up, let's talk salads.

What are some go to things you like in salad that make you devour it down? Any special salad or dressing recipes to recommend?

I'm having a delicious strawberry & spinach salad from a local place for lunch; it's got all the normal stuff- red onions, strawberry dressing, and blue cheese crumbles- but it also has pistachios! I've never had them in a salad and it's amazing.

I love croutons, raw broccoli, nuts and blue cheese/feta/goat cheese in my salads. I also like hard boiled egg, but usually on the side for a protein boost.

We had an amazing salad the other night. It was half greens/ half spinach (straight from the bag), halved grapes (which were ok- I'd put in the original mandarin oranges instead next time as it called for both in the recipe), toasted slivered almonds, and avocado. (Mmmmm, avocado.) The star was the dressing though- oil, soy sauce, wine vinegar, a little brown sugar, minced garlic and curry powder. I've never considered using curry in a dressing, but it was awesome. We ate almost the entire thing that night, just the 2.5 of us. Here is the recipe: Orange-Avocado Tossed Salad Recipe - Allrecipes.com

hmm I eat salad almost every day, sometimes twice a day, but I like it simple...nothing too off the path or fancy. I prefer very dark greens, baby greens if I can get them, lots raddichio, spinach, endive etc. I usually add sliced bell peppers, red onion, cucumber, shredded carrot, and grape tomatoes. I dont add cheese, except for the occasional feta or fresh grated parm/reg (dont need or want the extra fat/sodium)...and I dont add fruit or meat. I always top it with homemade Italian dressing which is just olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and a pinch of sugar.

Do you have Fresh N Easy? They make a bagged Southwestern salad mix, its DELISH! They also sell mesquite chicken, already cooked and sliced, to throw on there. That's my favorite lunch right now. I am sure the dressing is packed with calories, but its too yummy to bother looking.

I usually just do lettuce (romaine or green leaf), cheese, cherry tomatoes, and dressing. Pretty boring and simple!

I am the same as Andrea if it's a side. But I love broccoli salads, and at a salad bar I load up on everything. I don't typically make main course salads, as much as Dh and I like salad we need more protien then I like in a salad. But it is a go to side we eat it about 1-2x a week in winter and almost daily in the summer.

My fave right now is dark leafy greens (especially arugula) with cranberries, blue cheese or goat cheese, candied walnuts with a raspberry dressing, NOM!

I love salads so I really should make them more and try some more adventurous ones. I tend to stick with the typical greens, tomato, onion, mushrooms, etc. I'd eat most any though I imagine!

Thanks *Kiliki* for the precious siggy!

I eat salad on a regular basis too. My standby is dark leafy greens, I usually do a salad in a bag mix, with chick peas, tofu, olives, cheese (feta, blue or shredded cheddar) and croutons. I also love pear slac with Gorgonzola and cinnamon pecans with a light balsamic.
