So I woke up this morning with a terrible terrible head cold and sore throat. I have barely left my bed all day! I know I cant take anything as far as medication but I am just wondering if any one know about throat lozenges.... can I take them? My throat is the worst part and i will feel so much better if I could just relieve that pain!

Thanks in advance everyone!

Awe!! I hope you get well soon! What a great way to start off your pregnancy. Poor thing!...To be honest, I can't remember what my doc said. Sip some green, and maybe add some honey and lemon. I've heard honey and lemon can help. Not sure if the lemon will hurt your throat. I never understood that home remedy! lol! But, give your doc's office a call and some some recommendations. They might tell you certain meds are ok. I know I was real sick when pregnant with my son, and doc gave me a couple options of meds he considered ok, but I was a lot further along in my pregnancy. Give them a call so you can get some relief!

GL and keep us posted on how you're doing!

I would call your OB's office and ask what you can take. you can also look things up on safefetus.com. Hope you're feeling better today.

I'm in a similar situation. I woke up last night with a head cold. My sinuses have been killing me! And the nasal drip has made me so nauseous. I had the worst night of [attempted] sleep that I can remember. I called my doc first thing and was told that they do not recommend any medication during the 1st 8 wks b/c of all of the organ development going on. They did recommend using a Neti Pot. I googled it before I bought it; it's kinda weird/gross, but it did give mes some relief. The doc also suggested saline nasal spray, Vick's Vapo Rub, or a face steamer. For your throat you could gargle warm salt water several times a day until it subsides. I know, I know, not exactly what you're lookin for, but whateverhelps, right?

I hope you feel better soon

I can't remember whether or not you can suck lozenges while pregnant. They should say something on the packaging if you want to have a look around the pharmacy. Come to that, you could ask the pharmacist. If they're not suitable, strong mints can also sometimes help with sore throats - that and lots of cold drinks xxx
