a piece of advice you've been given during pregnancy that you'd consider an old wives tale and how accurate would you consider it?
A great big thank you to Megan for my awesome siggie! You rock!!

Oh this is an interesting question. I can't wait to hear answers.

With my last pregnancy I worked as a cook and I got a few burns on my arms and one of the girls there kept telling me I better watch it because everytime I get a burn it gives the baby a birth mark. My DD did't have any birthmarks, so I don't think it holds any truth.

Also about the heartburn and having lots of hair, I don't believe that either. It may happen, but I think only by chance. Everytime I have heartburn and mention it to someone they say "You're going to have a hairy baby"

Thank you Meganpixel for the most fantastic siggy!

I get the heartburn one a lot - that because I have such bad heartburn I am going to have a baby with a lot of hair.

I get a lot of the "you are carrying in front/high/low it must be a boy/girl" whatever...I think every woman carries different and it has nothing to do with gender!

The heartburn one I get a lot too.

I also heard not to raise your arms or else the baby could get the cord wrapped around their neck which I found to be hilarious!

Drinking coffee makes your baby hyperactive when their born. I seriously doubt that.

I've been told not to raise my arms, or to cross my legs. If I cross my legs supposedly the baby will suffocate - really? Does he breathe out of my vagina?!

^^ You can't feel the snorkel?

I haven't had many comments honestly. Probably because strangers never talk to me and I don't have many friends

Someone told me that my early spotting meant I was having a boy...it held true for ME but I highly doubt there is any truth to it in reality. I've heard the heartburn one and I have never had heartburn so apparently my baby thus far is bald...we shall see! That's all I can think of for now.....

Thank you MeganPixel for surprising me with this super cute siggy-you rock!

oooh, the heartburn thing, I def. don't agree with! My DS had a fulll shocking head of hair when he was born (im talking stranger stopping hair lol) and I never had heartburn, my friend who was preggo same time, had heartburn 24/7, her baby? Bald as a cue ball lol

The carrying high=girl, carrying low=boy.. This has held true for me I carried VERY low with DS, and im carrying high with this little girl

I've also had people give me the 3rd degree about dying my hair, but I got it straight from the doc that its safe as long as you're not snuffing in the fumes, and the last dye I used was very gentle with no ammonia, and no fumes.

annnnd, a really funny one I heard, was if you poke your baby too hard, it creates a birthmark LOL

The biggest thing I ever hear is that because my DD is such a piece of cake (She was seriously one of the best babies, she didn't cry almost ever, nursed perfectly, etc) this baby will be awful and needy.

I've been told that if you're having a girl, she'll take away your good looks. A co-worker and I were pregnant at the same time, both with girls. She had gained a bunch of weight (pre-e) in her hips, butt, and face. I gained only in my belly. A guy we worked with told her that she was definitely having a girl because she was no longer as attractive as she was before, and he refused to believe that I wasn't having a boy because apparently I kept my good looks.

I also went to an urgent care place for a bad cold when I was 38 weeks pregnant with Lily. The nurse there insisted I was having a boy because I was carrying low. She seriously wouldn't believe me when I told her I had several u/s proving it was a girl. The only reason I was carrying low that day was because I went into early labor a few days later- clearly Lily had dropped in preparation for delivery.
