AHHHH! We had a big ice storm last week and lost power in the entire southwest part of the state and it's REALLY getting old. Maybe I should have put this in the venting section.... It is getting better, the town my office is in got power back around noon yesterday so at least I can work again. My mom lives very close to that town and they got power back just now, so that'll be helpful too. We live so far out they are telling us that it could be 4-6 weeks Our house is total electric of course and we're on a water well so we don't even have water. We did hook a generator up to our meat freezer since we had at least $2000 worth of beef and elk in that, but we lost everything in our house fridge. It could've been worse, we don't have any major damage at the house or the barn. It just sucks... My hubby has been staying out at the house the whole time having to carry pond water up for the stock and dogs. I took Bonham to the in-laws at first and then sent him with my mom to my grandparents about 4 hours from here. He misses his Daddy and doesn't understand why we can't just go home... I just want to go home too WAH!!! Makes me realize just how spoiled we really are!

Okay, my pity party is over It will get a little better now, Mom should bring Bonham home tomorrow and we can stay at her house so at least Mike can come stay the evenings and get a shower and warm bed and most importantly play with his son. At least this happened now and not when we have a newborn! Thank the good Lord for family to lean on!

Wow... what an experience! I'm glad you have lots of family relatively nearby to help out. Have a fun weekend with DH and hopefully it's not REALLY 4-6 weeks before you get power back!!

Oh my goodness! What an ordeal! Can you check with your utility company to see if they offer any type of reimbursement for your groceries when the power is out a certain amount of time. I know ours does, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it applies when there is a storm that causes the outage, or only if its a malfunction of the power system that is caused by man made error. Worth checking into though!
Glad your mom's power is back so you can stay there. And yay for the generator saving your meat freezer! Hope things get better soon!

Thank you Kiliki for my awesome siggy!

WHAT! I'd call and fuss/cuss my butt off. Let them know that I'm pregnant and due any day now and they're trying to make me go into pre-term labor b/c of this stress and that if they dont get their butts out here that they'll be paying for my childs tuition to Yale or Harvard and wont be hearing the end of it.
Of course I'd probably be lying for most of that stuff, but I bet they'd get your power cut on sooner than later.

My mom did that when she was pregnant with me. It was close to summer, hot out side and the A/C went out. Told her that they wont be able to get anyone out there to fix it for at least 3 days (it was like a thurs or fri). She called and cursed them people out so bad, they had someone out there within 24 hours.

Use your pregnancy powers lol

Haha! Well, I don't think my making a fuss will get it done any faster. We have linemen from all over the country down here working on all the outages. They just have to go in order of importance and that means going to the most populated areas first. That just means we'll be close to last... I feel much better today after sleeping in a warm bed and having a nice hot shower this morning.

About the food reimburement, I have coverage under my homeowner's insurance for that but I doubt my loss will go over my deductible.

Thanks for the comments and for letting me vent though
