Davis is still sleeping most of the day, and everyone keeps telling me I should be keeping him awake in order to get him to sleep better at night.

What is your LO doing as far as awake time goes?

It depends on the day. Yesterday and today he has been sleeping almost all day, only awake for maybe an hour or so here and there. This weekend he was awake all the time, but his nighttime sleeping patterns haven't changed no matter if he is awake during the day or not. Actually the last two nights he has slept a bit better eve though he has slept most of the day. I don't push a schedule with him, it just doesn't suit me. I let him tell me what he needs.

Kieran is not generally a sleeper. But I think your friends are a bit misinformed about "keeping a baby awake" so he sleeps better. Most of the time that completely backfires. Even my two-year-old will sleep worse at night if he misses his nap. Yet, when he takes a two-hour one, he will sleep 11 hours straight at night.

Kieran is awake for a good 6 hours in the morning (6-12noon), maybe with a 20-minute catnap thrown in there. Then he naps in the afternoon and evening (generally 3-4 hours of total sleep between noon and five), is up for around four hours again (5-9), and then has a stretch of 3-4 hours in his first night stretch (9-12 or 1). Then he is up and down for the rest of the night til around 6am. He is pretty predictable in that regard. But if he wanted to sleep ALL DAY, I would absolutely let them. Babies sleep to grow, so I abide by "never wake a sleeping baby!"

Kayli still sleeps a lot. She sleeps on and off till noon or so, waking only for feedings. Then maybe an hour of awake time around 12-1 and back to sleep till maybe 3 or 4.

Her most alert time is in the evening, for maybe 3 hours at most.

Of course this varies day to day. The last couple of days she's been up wanting to be active after the 5am feeding. :/

He ALWAYS poops about 5 am evrery day. lol then he is awake for about 2 to 3 hour streches during the day and sleeps for about 2 then awake again untill night when I can get him out for about 3 4 hours at a time starting at 8.
