Hello all, I am new here.

I am 5 weeks pregnant today and called the doctor to report off and on lower back pain (sometimes severe) and brown scanty spotting that I noticed for the past 2 days. Doctor asked me to come in right away.

She did an ultra-vaginal u/s and did not see anything except a thickened endometrium. She said it could be too early and took blood for labs. Results will be in on Friday. But, I am anxious. Has anyone had that experience and then seen baby a couple of weeks later in u/s? I have a 4 year old son (had such a smooth pregnancy), and a miscarriage at 6.5 weeks last July. So, I am not sure what my body is up to now!!!

Any input will be useful. Thanks!

I have no experience with this... 5 weeks seems fairly early though so I wouldn't give up hope.

I just have to ask though (not to be rude!)... how did you end up on this board? This board is for mamas who have babies born in August 2011. There are lots of other board here that might be more appropriate and might have someone else able to help you

I agree, 5 weeks seems early so I wouldn't give up hope either! Spotting is pretty normal in the beginning too.

Try to pregnancy and motherhood after loss board. Lots of moms there who have been through loss and spotting during early pregnancy. Good luck!

I had my first ultrasound at 4w6 days, and saw nothing. I went back exactly a week later (5w6d) and saw 2 sacs, but no baby. I went back exactly a week after that, and saw 2 sacs, 2 blobs, 2 heart beats. Don't worry yet. It is still really early! Congrats!
