Does anyone have any good websites to get general information on adoption? There are so many out there, and it's hard to figure out what's reputable and what's not. Specifically, I am wanting information on domestic adoption of newborns...

Thanks ladies

I don't know of anything off the top of my head but have you looked at the adoption board here? Honestly I think I would start with a local adoption lawyer and/or a local adoption agency.

When I worked in daycare a family that was there had fostered girls from Catholic Charities and eventually adopted them.

I would contact your local department of human resources (i.e., welfare office). They should be able to refer you.

I cross-posted on the adoption board. It's not super active. The local Catholic Charity website wasn't very helpful.... Didn't really have much information. As a non-profit charity, I'm guessing they don't allot very much money to their website. We're not really ready to officially start looking into adoption, so I was just doing some "pre-research." We see the geneticist for E next month, and I'll talk to the nurse practitioner/genetic counselor at that time too. It's the same geneticist I always saw growing up, and I've set the appointment up now so he sees the same NP that I saw. I spoke with her briefly about adoption vs. bio kids after we got married, and she said she could provide me more info on the adoption stuff.
