Today at hy-vee I noticed they were selling these downy ball things that you put your liquid fabric softner into and then toss into the washing machine. I have never tried one and I don't use liquid fabric softner but I was just wondering if any of you have them and how they work? Also, can you use other brands of liquid fabric softner besides downy? And can they be used for anything else besides fabric softner?

I used to use one all the time. You can put any brand of softener in there. I've never put anything else besides softener in it. I don't use one now because I think mine broke after YEARS of use and I always catch the rinse cycle. I'm sure that makes me a laundry nerd but it's part of my flow.
