I recycle mine, and often refill and reuse the disposables, tho I think I read somewhere that you shouldnt and I can't remember why not. I've not put them through the dishwasher though I wonder if it would be ok. I have put empty Propel bottles through the dishwasher and they come out fine.

If I buy one for some reason I throw it out when I'm done. I have a water filter in my kitchen though so I don't have to buy bottled tap water.

I also have filtered water in the kitchen, which I fill up my non-disposable Nalgene water bottle with. It's indestructable. For real, they'll give you your money back if it breaks. I love my trusty Nalgene. I put all kinds of crazy things in it, including those powdered drink things. And! It has a measuring line on the side so I know how much I've had in water for the day. Best $7 I ever spent.

I have a sports bottle that I fill and re-use, also. I used to do the plastic bottles, but read on article in Conscious Choice magazine about how devastating those bottles are on the environment.

We used to refill and reuse disposable bottles all the time, until we heard that it's not really good for you...I still do once in a while, but not nearly as often. Mostly, I use a sports bottle.
