A friend of mine just told me that she was naming her new daughter Aribella Skyye. I said it was pretty, but I noticed how popular the name is now, and that especially around here it's really big in the Mexican community. She FREAKED out, saying that it was a 100% unique name, and that I was just trying to find somthing wrong with everything. She is totally upset with me, and I don't/didn't find it rude! I most deffinitly did not mean it in a rude way, I was just telling her that even though she thinks it's a unique name, right now it's not. I don't know if I should apologize for somthing I didnt mean, or just ignore it and move on.

Well, nothing is 100% original. lol
Unless she brings it up, I would drop it. Pregnancy hormones can be a witch and she's likely to take an apology wrong too. But, that's just my opinion.

if it were me i wouldnt say sorry..mainly because no name is original..there is ALWAYS someone else out there with that name..maybe spelled differently but yet still the same..let her cool down and hopefully she realizes she over reacted

I dont think that you should say sorry. When your discussing your child to bes name theres always gonna be feed back that you dont wanna hear. I used to get told all the time that Kennedi was a popular name..I dont think it is.

I think that if she brings it up or seems to still be upset that I would apopligize for the fact that her feelings where hurt and tell her that you never meant to do that. I'd tell her again how much I like that name and tell her that the only thing that's important is that SHE likes the name she's chosen.

Sounds like she was on edge about something. Give her some space and then call her like nothing happened

Yeah, let her calm down. I hate it when those preggo hormones make an otherwise reasonable woman go completely nuts over "her" name. How dare anyone imply that anyone else has been named that EVER?!

I don't think you were rude in the LEAST. *I* would probably apologize... not necessarily for *what* you said, but I'd apologize simply because she felt hurt, and tell you you didn't mean to. But, that's just me. Love hormones

well, ill be completely honest and say i probably would have been offended BUT i dont think you said anything out of line either.

thats why i didnt tell anyone what we were going to name either dd. if you cant take the feedback, keep it to yourself.

i would probably apologize for hurting her feelings, but thats just me

I would apologise for unintentionally hurting her feelings, but only if she brings it up again.. I think chances are it's just the prego hormones, that made her get so grumpy
