Are birthdays a big deal in your house? How do you usually celebrate?

We try to make at least a semi-big deal out of Grace's birthday. For her first two birthdays, we had parties at home with family. This year, we had a swimming party at an indoor pool. She loved it!

For our birthdays...meh. We no longer make a big deal. If we go out to eat, that's usually the most we do. Maybe a card.

Our birthdays we usually do cards and boxes of chocolate or something like that. We go out to dinner sometimes although not every year since our birthdays are both really close to Christmas. It's just really another day. No big deal.

Kayley on the other hand gets a celebration! She had a pretty big party this year, but it was at our house....she has a winter birthday right in the prime of flu season so we usually just do our house. The year before I had to cancel because she ended up with the flu and rescheduling for the next month. We did a My Little Pony theme for her this year.

We usually just do family things.. This year for Ellie we are going to do it at Peter Piper Pizza (like Chuck-e-cheese) and it will be mostly family invited and maybe 2 friends from school.. The boys do not have friends yet so their b-days are just family until they get in school and make friends..

The kids birthdays are usually quite a big deal. We either have a party at home or let them choose to go somewhere, but now that there's 4 of them I think we'll alternate years between parties at home and parties out.

For DH and I, we usually just have a cake, give a gift, and sometimes go out to dinner.

We make a big deal out of birthdays. The kids get parties and for DH and i we do a joint celebration. His b day is in August and mine is in October so we do a big date night in September. My DS was a preemie and so sick his first year so now all birthdays are really important to me.
