Hey girls, my name is Kristen I am from Oct DDC and I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow. I am going for my glucose test on the 20th so I'll tell my midwife about it then. I am 29 yrs old I have only gained 5lbs so far, never had a history of diabetes and this is my 4th pregnancy. I know you can get it in one pregnancy and not in others. The other night I woke up with the worlds WORST taste in my mouth, I actually got up and brushed my teeth and garggled with mouth wash. Then my lips and tongue got tingly and I got very shakey jittery and then freezing cold. I asked my chiropractor about it today and she said it might be a sign of GD. So i figured I'd hop on here and ask you ladies for any advice you might have. Thanks!

Unfortunately, there aren't that many signs of GD. Frequent thirst, urination, bladder infections, blurred vision... things that can be a pregnancy trait already.

You sound like you experienced that "metal mouth" symptom of pregnancy. I've heard bits about it but never experienced it. I don't think it's related to gestational diabetes.

As for the shaking and freezing cold, I'm not sure. I would have leaned more towards thyroid than diabetes. If my sugar gets low I'll get some shakes and I feel sick to my stomach.

I hope you get it figured out! Best of luck!

Thanks for the quick response! Sorry the 1st post was so poorly written I typed it up super quick while on the phone and about to run out the door to go get my kids from VBS and I didn't get a chance to re-read it until now LOL!!!
I personally have my doubts that it's GD too since I do have bouts with my sugar dropping and I know that feeling of needing something to eat so I don't pass out but this was a totally different feeling. I called my midwife just a bit ago and asked her what she thought about it and she felt confident that it was probably just stomach acid or even my sinus's draining causing the issues. I am praying that's the case because as I'm sure every pregnant mom agrees, no one actually wants GD! Thanks again for the quick response!
