A beer bottle opener key ring ( I only drink wine) for an office secret santa... I bought a lovely bottle of redwine and a nice tie for the person I got ... everyone else had made an effort also. Then when my turn came round it was embarassing to think this is how much that person thinks of me lol

I also got used earrings that had gone green on the backs ... ew

My godparents are doctors and they give the TACKIEST gifts ever. They literally go to the Present Drawer and pull out a box and send it. Well on my 16th birthday my mom gave me a box that had come in the mail. I was the proud recipient of a child size i love mommy necklace lol. It was so shocking I didnt know if I should get angry or if I should just start cracking up.

My own things back. One year for Christmas my mother (who does not always exercise the best judgment) cleaned out her house and found a belt with my name on it and a purse cover with my name on it from the 3rd grade. She wrapped them up and gave them back to me. When I was in my early 30s. What the heck do I want with old crap of mine??

She also one time gave me a figurine from Disney World that she broke on the way home and then glued bacl together with GOBS of rubber cemement. That found it's way to the garbage.

Once, the mother of a student of mine, after much pomp and circumstance and talk about how I should "keep this quiet" bc she NEVER gives such a nice gift to her children's teachers, gave me a gift card to a local salon and spa. Very nice place. Very nice gift. Upon returning home, I opened the gift card to check it out and schedule some kind of pampering service at the spa...turns out, it was the remainder of a USED gift card to the spa. ROFL. I still put it towards a lovely mani/pedi that I would up treating myself to there, but I thought it was absolutely hillarious that she made such a grand gesture of giving me the leftover balance of her own spa gift card. (Just for future reference, almost every teacher that I have ever worked with agrees that a handwritten note expressing your appreciation is the absolute BEST gift that you can receive from a parent or student. )

Thank you so much Kris2you for my lovely siggy!!!

My worse gift was a pair of pink old lady slippers that my grandma wouldn't even wear from my FIL.

Wow, those are some tacky gifts! I've received some clothing items that were definitely not my taste, but nothing that bad!

For Christmas last year my now mother in law gave me a bunch of stuff that they wanted to get rid of when she was cleaning her house. Mostly samples of different perfumes and hair products, and a massager that looks like a mouse lol

Mine rant that bad, when I was in gr 10 for Xmas my dad gave me some backstreat boys sample (single?) CDs what makes this bad is they were from a fast food restaurant kids meal my little sister always used to get kids meals and non of us liked them so we gave them to our dad to give to our little cousin.... Well no he decided to save them and rap them up for me for Xmas :/ it's ok though because my little sister got the tickle me Elmo back that she gave to my dad to give away to the same little cousin because she had long out grown it ^^;;;

And more recently I got a umbrella from my so for our anaverserie..... Because it has raining so much this year and I like to walk my mom home when she visits..... My mom doesn't even live a block away and I haven't used a umbrella in atleast 15 years....

I am trying to think....one of them was a wedding present from my grandpa who was (he's passed since) very elderly and it was a pack of tennis balls. I was confused when I opened it thinking it was a joke, but it wasn't!

Mine was a re-gifted hot pink man thong I received at my bridal shower. It was meant as a gag gift (and the rest of her gift was cute). I don't think my friend remembered that I was at her bridal shower when she had received it.

Ugh. Last Christmas was the worst. Could have just skipped it all together.

Started at my moms house. After struggling with infertility for 5 years we had just completed our adoption home study (was the route we were thinking at that time) my mom decided it would be appropriate to give us a box of baby things (Binky, onsies, rattle, who knows what else was is in the box- still in closet). I nearly broke into tears and she did not see any problems with her gift. Many issues- like NO KID YET and NOT A BABY SHOWER it was CHRISTMAS!

Then we continued to my MIL house where I received a hoodie-footie (they were popular last year I guess). Who really wants to wear around a peto-bismo colored outfit that infants usually wear?

My MIL gave us a unity candle (after the wedding was over) because she was mad that we didn't do it at the ceremony. She had emailed my husband that he shouldn't marry me about 9 months before the wedding and he didn't talk to her until about a month before when I made him call her and make up. Then she thought I was selfish for not wanting her to have a part in our wedding...
