I was wondering if any Mommie's on here were (or are currently) on prescription medication of any sort, and if so, what is your OB's opinion on the safeness for the baby????

I take a prescription medication for OCD. I have for years. I went off of it during my first pregnancy and it was a complete disaster and as soon as i gave birth it got 100 times worse. So this time around the doctor I have has lowered my dose and is keeping me on it. It is a class C drug and more and more research has shown it is perfectly fine during pregnancy if the mother really needs it. the last trimester we will lower it down even more. As soon as I give birth they will slowly start to increase my meds back up to where they should be. I can't breastfeed which is heartbreaking but I know that a happy and healthy mommy is way more important for the baby than my boobs.

I'm on metroprolol for high blood pressure. My regular dr. put me on it before we start ttc, because it's safer for the baby than what I was on before. There isn't a lot of research on this one's effects, but what there is isn't too negative. With this condition, I had to weigh if the possible effects of the medication, or the effects of my blood pressure running high would be worse. So far, everything is fine.

I'm going to have to take an antibiotic starting tomorrow for a UTI... Not happy about it but if I don't it could move into my kidneys. Blah!

I am currently on a blood thinner (lovenox) and medication to treat my depression. I take Zoloft. I stopped taking it when I found out I was pregnant, but I finally couldn't deal anymore and it became more important for me to be on it then not, especially since I have an 18 month old to care for. My doctor is happy I tried not being on it but is also happy I am back on it since I could realize I was losing it. I am currently on a very low dose and we plan to keep it that way until my last month of pregnancy we will gradually go up to my normal dose. My last month with my daughter I was on 100mg and I am only on 25 right now. And the bright side is its one of the safer ones to breastfeed with. And my daughter had no adverse effects from it. I started back on it on Tuesday so I have a few more weeks till I get the full benefit..

sorry for the novel.

I'm now on tylenol #3 for my migraines (thank-you god!) but I can only take it once every few weeks I think so baby doesn't develop an addiction.
