Anyone else taking or have taken macrobid? I have a UTI and my OB prescribed it. I'm soooo worried to take it, even though he and the pharmacist have said it's safe. Advice???

Macrobid is a category B medication so it is safe. I have taken Macrobid but not while pregnant. It should clear up your UTI in no time. I hope you feel better.

I have taken it when I was breastfeeding right after I had my second baby and it was o.k The Dr, had prescribed another one and when I asked him if it was safe while breastfeeding he said, well there have been no studies so that is good news...Stupid DR....I went crying to the pharmasit and she said what he gave me was to completely avoid and prescribed Marcobid...The are black and yellow pilss I think...

I always go and check meds on rxlist.com. They give you the info about breastfeeding and pregnancy...

I was on it my entire second and third trimester last pregnancy. They put me on it precautionary because I developed major kidney stones that are way to large to pass. I was supposed to have them "blown up" but my insurance ended 6 weeks after his birth. When it finally kicked back in I was pregnant soon after with this one so I am betting they will put me back on it soon. :/

On August 2, 2012 we lost Sarah at 17 weeks. Her pictures can be viewed at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sarahdarrohn
There is no known explanation for my losses.

I had a bad uti when pregnant with DD#3. I'm not sure what I took, but I ended up on antibiotics for like a month!

I was also told that infection increases your risk of preterm labor. They did a lot of screening for infections when I was in PTL.

Thanks ladies! I started it and feel better that so many of you have been on it. Seems like the risk of an untreated UTI is definitely worse than taking the pill! Yikes! Didn't realize that UTIs could be so bad for you!
