I was induced with Chloe on 1/10/12. I was 39w1d. I went in at 7:00 am and they started my Pitocin. My Dr. came in about 30 minutes later and checked me. I was 2cm dilated and 85% effaced. He went ahead and broke my water and we were rolling from there. He told me that as soon as my contractions got regular that I could have the epidural. I was almost 4 cm dilated at noon and got my epidural. Things were going really slowly and I was not progressing near as quick as I had expected that I would. At 2:00 I had made it to 5cm and by 3:00 I was at 6cm. My Dr came and checked me but seemed concerned that Chloe was still really high and had not moved down. He said that he was concerned with her head size since she was not moving down on her own and was worried that her head would be too big. He mentioned that if she did not move down, that we would be looking at a c-section. He assured me that we still had plenty of time for her to move but just the mention of a c-section really discouraged me. At 5:00 I had made it to 8cm but she was still really high. I got online and talked to a friend who helped me so much. She shared a link of positions I could get into to help the baby move down. I told her nurses and my dr about wanting to try them but they all replied, "There is nothing you can do. She will just have to move down on her own." I insisted on doing it anyways because I knew it would not hurt anything. My husband and one of the nurses helped me roll onto my left side and not long after that, I started to feel the pressure of her making her way down. I was so relieved and happy. By 6:00 she had moved down a lot and I was at 9cm and by 6:30 I was a 10 and complete. They wanted me to start pushing then but I told them I wanted to wait and let her move down more on her own. The nurses had a shift change and the nurses who I was not so fond of was replaced but the nurses who were so sweet that I started out my day with. They were so supportive of me. At 7:10, the nurse came in to check me again and she said, "She's right there, you are ready." It was push time. She started to get things ready and I pushed through 2 contraction, 3 pushes per contraction. At that point the Dr was not there yet, but she was about to come out without any help from me. The nurse told me not to move, cough, or sneeze or we were going to have a baby with out the dr. there. My Dr showed up and 2 very small pushes later, baby Chloe was born at 7:33. She was 6 lbs 12 oz, 19.5 inches long.

Even though things went really slow and my labor was 12.5 hours start to finish, I would not have had it any other way. It was exactly what I wanted. I was able to get my epi before I was in much pain and I was able to enjoy her birth with my family. I had such an easy recovery and have enjoyed every minute of my sweet little girl since.

Thank you, tasha_mae, for my very special siggy!

Good for you for hanging in there and insisting on trying different techniques to get her down! I'm so glad you got your vaginal delivery! Congratulations on your sweet little girl.

So itty bitty! Congrats!

When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." John 8:7
