Is anyone else planning on painting your home during this pregnancy?

We are moving to a new home next week and we hate some of the colors in it currently. There are 2 rooms I want to paint before we move in. Only problem is my husband is so busy with school and work (not to mention preparing for the move) that he really doesn't have a chance to get it done himself. Yet, I'm home all day and have the time to do it. I want to do it myself, but of course the paint fumes worry me. I read that some paints are considered safe, but to still be careful. So now I have to make the decision...I know I've heard of pregnant women painting before so I'm sure it's fine. What do you think?

I think it will be fine as long as you keep the area well ventilated (think fan on, windows open) and please be sure to wear a face mask! Also take lots of breaks so as to not overdo yourself.

Congrats on your new home! Let us know if you need help picking out colors

I have seen lots of pregnant women paint so I don't think there is an issue to you or the baby as long as it is well ventilated and you take breaks. Have you thought about hiring someone? It does cost more, but they can come in and get it done in half of the time.

I hear that it's fine. Some paints have less of the bad VOC's than others. I'm planning on painting the baby's room at some point and will seek out a low VOC paint for it....

As long as it's latex paint, you ventilate the area well, use a fan, keep it off your skin (wear long sleaves and gloves), keep your food and drink out of the room & take breaks, drink much water etc. Unless you are wearing a special mask to filter VOC's, you don't need a mask. The masks you all are mostly probably (lol)thinking about are only good for particulate. If you are really worried still with all that, buy a low or no VOC paint, or pay someone to do it for u!

I've painted with all 3 of my pg's with no ill effects. Well a sore back haha. Don't forget to take into acount things like your change in balance cause of your belly & how sore y our hips might get stepping up and down, so take it easy! GL!
