Aubrey is a really messy nurser. She drools out a lot of milk- enough that I always put a burp cloth under her head while she feeds and yet my boppy pillow still gets wet and despite its cover it is starting to smell like sour milk. She's 3.5 weeks old and I'm slowly working on weaning her from a nipple shield (had difficulty getting her to latch at the hospital... it was the only thing that worked). I wonder if anyone else has had issues with a messy nurser? I suspect that I might have either an overly strong let-down or an oversupply issue. Or maybe the nipple shield is the problem. Any ideas of how to deal with this? It's a huge hassle to wash the boppy pillow.

Tucker is messy too, I call him Mr. Milk Face when he is finished because there is milk everywhere. I guess it reassures me that he is getting a good amount. I am also using a nipple shield. I was given two Boppy pillows so I just swap them out when one needs to be washed.

Perhaps instead of a little burp cloth you could put a towel or receiving blanket down over the Boppy to absorb the drips. Good luck!

Could be over-active let down...I had that problem. Maybe try pumping an ounce off before you feed her. That way the initial rush will be out...that's what I did before I switched to exclusive pumping. I still have an over supply issue with just pumping 5 times a day. I get a good 9 ounces each time I pump and it just pours out....ugh.

*Thank you AlexKatieAidenMommy for my awesome siggie*

Grant is a messy nurser. I have an oversupply with a crazy fast letdown. He gets pissed and pops off and milk goes everywhere. I use a thick burp cloth that I made and just swap it out as needed.

Lydia is messy. I think her latch is just weaker she will be sucking it is one side while it drains out the other. DS had a supper strong suction latch and didn't get nearly so messy.
