So my 3 week old is currently on day 2 of her growth spurt and I still don't know what to do..

1. People have told me try 5 oz every 3-4 hours and not whenever she wants because she will get a tummy ache.
2. Other people have told me feed her whenever she demands it.

Help...? I wanna do the right thing.

*Thank you<3Kiliki for the siggy*

My LC and breastfeeding books said to feed on demand. Her stomach is likely unable to hold 5 oz yet. Most babies will only take what they can hold in their tummy at one time. If you try to force it she'll spit up what she can't hold in and it'll be setting her up for weight issues later on. It'd be like the baby equivalent of the "clean plate club."

I agree!! I doubt her tummy is big enough to hold 5 oz. I have always feed on demand during growth spurts and I have never had it lead to a tummy ache.

She's FF fed, right? I would do 4oz every 3-4hrs... 5oz is too much, her tummy is not big enough to hold that much comfortably.

Colt is 3wks and gets 4oz BM every 4hrs.
